3 soldiers arrested for robbing mining firms in Ashanti

Source: Ghana | inform ng/gh
Three military men have been arrested by the Kumasi Police for allegedly robbing small scale mining firms in the area.
Lance Corporal Yeboah Samuel, L/Cprl Dacosta Aboagye and L/Cprl Baffour Michael, from the Burma Camp in Accra, were arrested with three other civilians whilst trying to escape with their loot, police sources told Luv FM;s Erastus Asare Donkor.
The soldiers and their accomplices allegedly went to a mining site, Prime Gem, at Asepaye in Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region and demanded gold and money.
"Our bosses were not around but I had on me a GHC100 so I gave it to them, but they said it was not enough and started ransacking the place. There is a secure place we keep our black (gold concentrate), they asked for the keys but I told them I didn't have the key, our bosses took the key away," an Assistant Manager at Prime Gem, named only as Henry, told Erastus.
Henry said the military men "requested for heavy metals to break the door. They took the metals and started breaking it."
The assistant manager said one of the soldiers said he could shoot the door open but they didn't need it; the door had given way upon heavy pounding.
"They took the black; the black is what is processed to get the gold, it was a bowl-full, they took our mercury and then they continued to ask us for money," he stated.
After further searches, the suspected robbers left in a Toyota Landcruiser with Registration Number GR 2450-12 and driven by Jonathan Yeboah, a local galamsey operator.
The victims of the robbery then alerted the police. A police patrol team was informed about the robbery incident and immediately moved to the scene and bumped into the six suspected robbers. A chase ensued.
The police patrol team, probably using its superior knowledge of the topography of the area, out-run the suspects and arrested them.
They found on the soldiers and their accomplices, a bowl containing gold concentrate. The soldiers were fully armed and in military uniforms.
Erastus reported that the soldiers are currently in police custody whilst investigations continue. They have been identified by the victims as the perpetrators of Sunday evening's robbery attack on them.
Erastus quotes a police source as saying the military command in Kumasi are requesting that the men be handed over to them for further investigations.

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR THROWS HIS MUM OUT OF HIS HOUSE OVER WITCHCRAFT ISSUE

Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor, has reportedly ordered macho men to drive out his Mother, Madam Alice Adebayor, from his abode in Togo, according to a report in Ghana Sports newspaper.

Angry sisters of Adebayor namely Margaret Adebayor and Lucia Adebayor in the company of Ade’s cousin Aunty Kudirah Alabi and his niece Bukky Adeniyi stormed the premises of Peace FM in Accra to complain bitterly about the behaviour of the ex-Monaco star.

Adebayor’s elder sister, Margaret said, “for the past six years Adebayor has rejected his mother and his immediate family whilst doing charity outside on the premise that our mother is a witch.

“We have been thinking of his future as a footballer and did not want this issue out in the media but it is becoming too much.”

She added: “Can you believe Adebayor ordered his machomen to sack our mother and his own mother from a house he built in Togo claiming she is a witch? As we speak our mother lives in an apartment rented by our junior brother, Kola Adebayor, who currently lives in Germany.

“My mother weeps bitterly about the issue every day. Anytime his mother or any of us call and he realizes (it’s us) he will quickly cut the phone call”.

Margaret added that “I personally supervised the building of his house in Trassaco in Ghana and he gave us an apartment in the house. But all of a sudden he changed his attitude towards us, one afternoon his machomen came to drive us away from the house”.

Asked why Adebayor changed his attitude towards the family all of a sudden, Magaret retorted “Nobody can tell, we haven’t wronged him in anyway.
“For the past six years he has abandoned his responsibilities towards the family and does charity work instead. But as far as I know charity begins at home.”

Adebayor’s younger sister Lucia, who was in tears added that Adebayor made her stop schooling with the promise of taking her abroad but she is now selling tomatoes and pepper at Madina Market in Accra.

In response, the former Arsenal and Manchester City striker described the allegations as unfounded.

He, however, admitted that he is not on talking terms with his family because they have been plotting juju against him.
He also added that his sisters rented out a property he built for the them in East Legon without his knowledge.

“Ask my sister Margaret whether I did not build them a house in East Legon, and what happened to it? I bought my younger sister Lucia a car worth $35,000, where is it?” Ade quizzed.

The Togo national football team captain added “If they want the issue resolved they should stop spreading the news and let’s meet to resolve it but they aren’t willing to do so.”
